Night Vision Security Camera - Protect Those Dark Areas
You can protect the dark or low light areas of your home and business by using a night vision security camera. More good news is that it won't break the bank to do this. And it's not complicated to set up your own security system.
Security gives you peace of mind. You won't have to wonder what's happening outside or inside. You'll be able to monitor any area you choose. By using infrared cameras, darkness is no longer a thief's best friend.
Night vision LEDs give you superior low-light monitoring because the technology for this has improved rapidly. Some models of IR cams are in black and white while others provide full color even in low or very dim lighting areas.
When looking for a wireless model, consider purchasing the newer digital ones rather than the older analog systems which transmit on a frequency of 2.4 ghz. The is the same frequency as your cordless phones, wireless internet and even your microwave oven. This makes for a lot of interference. It's also a signal that could easily be picked up by a neighbor or anyone in the street near your home/business who also has a wireless system.
Some features to look for:
- Internal iris to adjust to light changes
- Light sensor that turns infrared LEDs on when it gets dark / off when it gets light
- 24+ LEDs - the higher the number, the farther the camera can see
- 3.6mm angle lens - gives you the widest view available. Higher numbers mean a the view gets narrower but it can focus in on objects farther away.
- Automatically adjusts from color daylight mode to infrared black and white nighttime mode
- 420 lines of resolution will give you a very clear picture. Anything over 250 is adequate.
- Vandal resistant dome to give even greater protection
- Waterproof for outside installations
Night security cameras under $100 are readily available. You can actually find many in the $30-$50 range. In the lower priced models, be sure to notice if they come with cables and mounting brackets as sometimes these aren't included. You might also need a power supply for them.
For under $150, you can get an IR camera that has a high resolution and clear video image. With 30 LEDs, their range of vision will be approximately 50 feet. It will automatically switch from daylight to night mode so it will work in all kinds of lighting situations. See an example of this camera here.
